The local government here is making it easier for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to transact business at the City Hall, designating dedicated lanes and improving wheelchair ramps.

This came after City Hall began resuming face-to-face transactions this week, although minimum health standards are still in place as the city is under Alert Level 1.

Raymond Padayhag, OIC-assistant city administrator, said Friday they have designated a lane for PWDs near the building entrance and a parking lot has been allotted for easy access and convenience.

“PWDs just need to present identification cards to avail of the parking space,” Padayhag said in a statement.

Frontline offices, likewise, are mandated to provide spaces and waiting areas for PWD clients.

City Hall also has existing wheelchair ramps and designated comfort rooms both for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

Padayhag assured the local government strives to comply with and even go beyond the standards set by Batas Pambansa Bilang 344, or “An Act to Enhance the Mobility of Disabled Persons by Requiring Certain Buildings, Institutions, Establishments and Public Utilities to Install Facilities and other Devices.” (PNA)
