Foreign and domestic travelers who have not been vaccinated yet against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) may avail of the free inoculation upon arrival at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

The activity is in line with the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” national vaccination drive from March 10-12.

Edilyth Maribojoc, GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation’s corporate affairs junior manager, on Thursday said the company that oversees the MCIA operations has partnered with the Department of Health, the Philippine Red Cross, and the Lapu-Lapu City local government unit in launching the Covid-19 Mobile Vaccination.

“We urge the public, especially those traveling through MCIA, to take advantage of this opportunity to get inoculated,” Maribojoc said in a statement.

The vaccination hub is open to individuals who have yet to get their first dose. However, those who want to have their second dose and booster jab while traveling can also avail themselves via the mobile vaccination site.

Those who are taking the booster shot are allowed only if at least three months have passed after the primary doses.

They also accommodate the pediatric population or children and teenagers aged 12 to 17.

In availing of the vaccination at the airport, the vaccinee needs to present valid proof of identification and the old vaccination card for the booster jab.

“In addition to our existing safe management measures at the airport, which continue to be necessary (for) helping MCIA mitigate any spread and keep community transmission low, vaccination is our next key enabler to protect the country and prepare our community to emerge stronger from Covid-19,” Maribojoc said.

She said the MCIA community has been very supportive of the vaccination program, citing the efforts to be a major driver for the continued recovery of the aviation industry. (PNA)
