A newly-organized farmers’ association and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Kabacan town signed Wednesday a marketing agreement for the supply of vegetables to the prison facility.

The agreement was signed between the San Isidro Sustainable Program Association (SISPA) president Dino Bulambao and Jail Inspector Edneil Capundan of the BJMP-Kabacan at the Senior Citizen Hall building here.

The agreement states that SISPA will supply vegetables, such as eggplants, squash, broccoli, cabbage, onion, tomatoes, and cucumber, for the inmates.

The agreement was carried out under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP), a special program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that aims to empower small organizations such as SISPA to improve their production and sustain food supply to clients.

The SISPA is based in Barangay Ilomavis, at the foot of Mt. Apo, where the elevation is conducive for vegetable production.

“The agreement will be a privilege for the organization and this will also ensure affordable pricing because this is a direct transaction without any middleman”, Bulambao said. The SISPA members are all beneficiaries of the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. (PNA)
