Aksyon Demokratiko presidential candidate Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Wednesday vowed to protect the tourism “assets” of the province of Bohol.
In an ambush interview during the party’s campaign sortie in the province, Domagoso also commended the provincial government for its effort to immediately recover from the calamity brought about by Typhoon Odette in December last year.
When asked what he could offer to the province once elected, Domagoso said he would help boost tourism.
“Turismo. Kailangan patuloy. Isang asset ng Bohol (Tourism. It has to continue. One asset of Bohol) is churches, that has to be protected,” Domagoso said.
The presidential aspirant also complimented the province’s new Panglao International Airport, also known as New Bohol International Airport inaugurated in 2018.
Bohol is deemed the country’s premier eco-tourism destination, and the Panglao International Airport has been dubbed the “green gateway” to Bohol because of its energy-saving features.
The new airport has bigger space and can accommodate more flights and tourists to the island.
With this, Domagoso said that Bohol’s assets need to be protected.
“Yung (The) tourism sites, Chocolate Hills, tarsiers, these must continue to be protected,” he said.
Bohol Governor Arthur Yap warmly welcomed Domagoso and his team as he expressed gratitude to the city of Manila for its help after “Odette” devastated the province.
He said that Boholanons would never forget the kindness shown by Domagoso and the city government of Manila during the province’s time of need.
“On behalf of the province of Bohol, taos puso po namin kayong tinatanggap sa kapitolyo. On behalf of the people of Bohol dagha pong salamat Sir. Hindi mo kami nakalimutan in the times sa panahon ng bagyong Odette. Nandito kayo within a few days. Hindi ko po makakalimutan nagdala po kayo ng ayuda, nagdala po kayo ng generators, nagdala po kayo ng financial na tabang (… we warmly welcome you here at the capitol. On behalf of the people of Bohol, thank you. You helped us during Typhoon Odette. You came here within a few days. I could not forget, you brought relief, generators, financial help),” Yap said to Domagoso. (PNA)
