Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Dani Zam reflects on why friendship does not progress into a relationship and its lingering what ifs in her new single “Beso,” which is dropping on music platforms this Friday (August 18).
“I think I wanted to start with a song that anybody, whatever gender, race, age could relate to. The concept of ‘hanggang beso’ is so sawi, so quintessentially Pinoy and familiar, and I want the listeners to have that experience recognized, especially ‘cause it’s so human and simple,” Dani said.
Growing up in a family of musicians, Dani naturally pursued her interest in music by listening to a wide range of genres and also looking up to musical icons such as Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, and JoJo. In 2021, the self-taught guitar player and producer released her debut EP “EDEN” which includes tracks such as “Say It” and “Made of Love.” Through her music, Dani hopes to help listeners express themselves and live their life ambitiously.
She also shared her vision for “Beso” which marked her first release under Tarsier Records.
“The song has a good hook, I think it has definite earworm potential. The kind that gets stuck in your head during a commute or a slow day at work. The song that you dance to with your friends at a bar, that you bob your head to on a weekend road trip, or that you use as the background audio on your newest TikTok video,” Dani added.
