President Rodrigo Duterte is preparing to become a private citizen and has returned to his hobby of plying Davao roads on board a motorcycle, Senator Christopher Lawrence Go said Thursday.

“He is now trying to adjust to the life of a private citizen,” Go said in an interview.

Duterte has always been an avid motorcyclist during his stint as the mayor of Davao City. He is one of the founding members of the “On Any Sunday” riding club.

His hobby had to take a backseat when he assumed the country’s top post.

Two months before he steps down from office, Duterte was spotted riding a Can-Am Ryker 600 on May 28 on the major thoroughfare of Davao del Sur.

On June 8, he once again rode his three-wheeled motorcycle to visit his supporters in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

“He is done in Davao del Sur and Davao del Norte, and he is now asking if he can go to Davao Oriental. During his term as the President, he missed being with his supporters,” Go said.

During Duterte’s road trip to Tagum City, the senator said a lot of supporters went out to the streets holding streamers and thanked President Duterte.

“I know they miss the President,” Go said. “The President too missed his supporters and wanted to personally thank them for trusting him the country for six years.”

Go vowed to continue the programs of the Duterte administration which will benefit the poor.

“In my capacity as a senator, I will continue the good programs of the administration. I will try to make a comfortable life for every Filipino,” he said. (PNA)
